The Science and Technology Activity Committee (also known as STAC) was a student-led club program that was offered at my high school, Chinguacousy Secondary School. I spent many of my high school years working in this committee, with 20 other like-minded students. Within STAC, we organized many student events, such as…

• the yearly Science and Technology Program Open House
• STEAMWorks, a design event for junior students in the school community to attend skill-based workshops and build cool STEAM projects
• WolfHacks, a city-wide weekend-long hackathon for students of all ages to attend workshops and panels led by industry known leaders, and build projects based on a specified problem statement

In high school, I played a key role on this team. This experience was incredibly transformative for me; I gained valuable skills in project management, school engagement, and taking initiative. It helped shape my character, made me more diligent, and allowed me to explore new opportunities.

SciTech Open House

When I was on the team in 2020 and 2021, the SciTech Open House was hosted online to prevent the spread of COVID-19. I was involved in the making of the content and presentations that would be shown to incoming students at the school.

WolfHacks

I played a key role in planning WolfHacks 2021 and 2022, taking on various responsibilities including acting as a liaison between the student body and the STAC committee, serving as a design team member, senior treasurer, and more. Below are some highlights of what I accomplished during my time on the team:

• Designed all merchandising materials, such as t-shirts, team sweaters, and other tokens for participants, judges, sponsors, and community members.
• Managed communication with participants and community members through email.
• Created graphic posts and video content using event branding and tools.
• In 2022, I advanced to the executive team and took on the role of Senior Treasurer, overseeing the financial management of the event.
  • Managed a budget of $20,000, providing finance updates during weekly team meetings.
  • Applied for city grants and other funding opportunities.
• Participated in meetings with sponsors, working closely with the City of Brampton, Brampton Library, and various other partners to ensure coordination.
• Mentored junior students on the team!
